An employee of a Beaumont retirement home has filed a suit against her employer for injuries she sustained on the job.
Cornelia Williams filed the personal injury suit April 9 against Summit Care Texas LP, doing business as Clairmont Beaumont, in Jefferson County District Court.
The plaintiff's original petition says the defendant does not maintain a policy of worker's compensation insurance. Williams says she was injured Oct. 5, 200, in the course and scope of her employment "and as a result of defendant's negligence."
"Defendant proximately caused her injury by failing to provide her with necessary training, necessary tools to accomplish her job, necessary safety equipment and necessary staffing and support."
She is seeking damages for past and future medical expenses, physical pain, mental anguish, loss of wages, loss of earning capacity, loss of enjoyment of life, physical disability or impairment and other damages to be shown at trial.
Timothy Sawyer of Lindsay & Morgan PLLC in Beaumont is representing the plaintiff.
The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd in the 172nd District Court.
