This Just In: Recent civil suits filed in Jefferson County District Courts

Aug. 27
Laura White vs. Ametek Inc. et al
PA - Troy Chandler, J - Gary Sanderson
Between the years of 1944 to 1984, Julian Booker worked at various industrial sites. In September 2006, he allegedly died of pulmonary asbestosis. Now, Julian's former wife, Laura White, claims some 21 companies were responsible for his death and filed a suit on his behalf.
The plaintiffs are suing for exemplary damages, plus Booker's past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement.

Margaret Marvin et al vs. A.W. Chesterton
PA - Lou Thompson Black, J - Bob Wortham
The plaintiffs are suing A.W. Chesterton, along with 66 other companies, for conspiring to mine, process and sell asbestos products, suppressing the information pertaining to the fiber's hazardous influence on human health and purposely inflicting her with an asbestos disease.
They are suing for punitive damages.

Rosia Greer et al vs. Chevron USA
PA - Steven Kherkher, J - Milton Shuffield
At the age of 75, George Greer, Sr. allegedly died from mesothelioma.
His family is holding more than a dozen companies accountable for his death and has filed an asbestos suit on his behalf. As the representative of Greer's estate, Rosia Greer filed the suit against Chevron USA and 12 other companies.
The plaintiffs are suing for exemplary damages, plus Greer's past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and disfigurement.

Jeffrey Huntley vs. Bayer Corp. et al
PA - Keith Hyde, J - Milton Shuffield
A Chambers County railroad worker has filed suit in Jefferson County, claiming he was negligently injured by his employer and several other companies. In his suit, Huntley says he was injured Feb. 29 while performing his duties as a production technician for Econo-Rail in Baytown, Texas when he somehow injured his legs.
Huntley is suing for past and future mental anguish, lost earnings, impairment, disfigurement and medical expenses, plus all court costs.

Margarita Torres vs. Christus St. Elizabeth
PA - Paula Elliott, J - Bob Wortham
After being in an automobile collision, Jesus Torres was admitted to Christus St. Elizabeth, where he died from respiratory failure. Jesus' wife, Margarita Torres, filed a suit on his behalf against the hospital and several of its physicians, claiming the defendants negligently failed to keep her husband alive.
The plaintiffs are suing for loss of companionship and Torres' past and future mental anguish and medical expenses.
