Beaumont man sues insurance company for failure to pay claim

A Beaumont man has filed suit against an insurance agency, claiming it did not cover damages to his home.
Jack Brookshire claims he held a homeowner's insurance policy through Braud, Vaughn and Williamson Insurance Agency, but it did not cover damages to his home the policy should have covered.
The suit does not detail the nature of Brookshire's damages.
Because the company did not cover his claims, Brookshire has sustained expectancy, reliance, restitution and punitive damages, as well as a loss in value, loss of use, consequential losses and out-of-pocket losses, according to the suit filed Oct. 21 in Jefferson County District Court.
Brookshire is seeking damages of at least $75,000, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems appropriate.
He is represented by Dan Ducote Jr., of Moore Landry in Beaumont.
