Man sues Entergy after power line falls on car

A Jefferson County man has filed suit against Entergy Texas, alleging he received severe injuries after a power line fell on his vehicle.

William Ross Duke claims he was sitting at a stop sign on July 2, 2007, when an Entergy line fell.

Because of the incident, Duke claims he sustained physical pain and mental suffering, incurred medical expenses and experienced physical impairment, according to the complaint filed April 1 in Jefferson County District Court.

He also says he suffered physical disfigurement and emotional distress and lost his ability to enjoy life.

According to the suit, Entergy was negligent by failing to properly maintain the power line, by failing to properly secure the line and by failing to properly service the power line.

Duke is seeking a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which he may be entitled.

He is represented by J. Trenton Bond of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield of the 136th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: D183-699.
