Woman sues grocery store over water puddle near ice machine

While shopping at the Port Arthur HEB, Shauntral Pollard slipped and fell in a puddle of water that had dripped from an ice machine.

She filed suit against HEB Grocery Company on Oct. 21 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the suit, on Nov. 03, 2008, Pollard was a customer at the HEB.

In her suit, she alleges she "fell in water that was coming from the ice machine."

"There were no wet floor signs or floor mats to absorb the water," the suit states. "It was clear that the store employees knew ... about the dangerous condition."

The suit goes on to allege that HEB failed to protect its shoppers.
Pollard claims she suffered injuries to her neck back, left hip and left ankle.

She is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, lost earnings and impairment.

Pollard is represented by attorney Jonathan Juhan.
