Man sues over electrical shock at sports park

GALVESTON - A Galveston County's man trip to a League City sports park a couple of months ago ended in a lawsuit.

Michael Shane Brinegar is suing Big League Dreams, LECS Electric and Musco Sports Lighting after he suffered an electric shock at the athletic facility.

His suit was filed Nov. 8 in Galveston County District Court.

The plaintiff says that he received a devastating shock from contact with an energized lighting pole, which was reportedly designed, installed and maintained by defendants LECS and Musco.

"Unbeknownst to Brinegar, the pole and/or its wiring was defective and not properly grounded," the original complaint states.

"Brinegar exercised all due care for his own safety, and the accident was solely the responsibility of Big League Dreams, LECS and Musco."

The suit faults Big League Dreams for not maintaining the premises in a reasonably safe condition and failing to warn the plaintiff about the potential for danger created by the lighting system.

Consequently, Brinegar seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

He is represented by attorney James A. Holmes of Henderson.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia.
