PATENT INFRINGEMENT CASES

  • Traffic Information v. Mazda Motor of America Inc. et al

    Plaintiff Traffic Information is a Texas limited liability company.

    The defendants are Mazda Motor of American Inc., El Dorado Motors Inc. d/b/a El Dorado Mazda, Cydle America Corp. Inc., and ViewSonic Corp.

    The defendants are accused of infringing on U.S. Patent No. 6,785,606 issued Aug. 31, 2004, and U.S. Patent No. 6,466,862 issued on Oct. 15, 2002, for System For Providing Traffic Information.

    Traffic Information is asking the Court to issue an injunction preventing the defendants from further acts of infringement and for an award of damages, treble damages, interest, court costs and attorney's fees.

  • Lodsys v. Brother International Corp.

    Lodsys is a Texas limited liability company with its principal place of business in Marshall.

    The defendants are Brother International Corp., Canon U.S.A. Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., Hulu, Lenovo (United States) Inc., Lexmark International Inc., Motorola Mobility Inc., Novell Inc., Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Samsung Electronics America Inc., Samsung Telecommunications America and Trend Micro Inc.

    The defendants are accused of infringing on:

  • U.S. Patent No. 7,620,565 issued Nov. 17, 2009, for Customer-Based Product Design Module;
  • U.S. Patent No. 7,222,078 issued May 22, 2007, for Methods and Systems for Gathering Information from Unites of a Commodity Across a Network; and
  • U.S. Patent No. 5,999,908 issued Dec. 7, 1999, for Customer-Based Product Design Module.

    Lodsys is asking the Court to issue an injunction preventing the defendants from further acts of infringement and for an award of damages, treble damages, attorney's fees and court costs.

    The plaintiff is represented by William E. Davis III of the Davis Law Firm in Longview.

    Plaintiff EchoStar Technologies is a Texas corporation and a subsidiary of EchoStar Communications Corp.

    The defendants are Tivo Inc. and Humanx USA Inc.

    The defendants are accused of infringing on:

  • U.S. Patent No. 5,774,186 issued June 30, 1998, for Interruption Tolerant Video Program Viewing;
  • U.S. Patent No. 6,173,112,B1 issued Jan. 9, 2001, for Method and System for Recording In-Progress Broadcast Programs;
  • U.S. Patent No. 6,529,685B2 issued March 4, 2003; and
  • U.S. Patent No. 6,208,804B1 issued March 27, 2001, for Multimedia Direct Access Storage Devices and Formatting Method.

    EchoStar is asking the court to issue an injunction preventing the defendants from further infringement and for an award of compensatory damages, treble damages, court costs and attorney's fees.

    EchoStar is represented by Damon Young of Young, Pickett & Lee in Texarkana and Harold J. McElhinny and Rachel Krevans of Morrison & Forester in San Francisco, Calif.

    A jury trial is requested.

    The defendants are accused of infringing on U.S. Patent No. 7,047,202 issued May 16, 2006, and U.S. Patent No. 7,761,383 issued on July 20, 2010, for Method and Apparatus for Optimizing Networking Potential Using a Secured System for an Online Community.

    The plaintiffs are asking the Court to issue a permanent injunction and for an award of damages, enhanced damages, attorney's fees, court costs and interest.
