An automobile collision trial slated to begin Tuesday, April 5, has been continued and tentatively rescheduled for April 25.
Area resident Bobbie Patterson filed suit against Beaumont local Trinity Cooper on Aug. 14, 2009, in Jefferson County District Court.
Court records show that on May 29, 2008, Patterson was traveling east on Washington Boulevard in Beaumont when Cooper "suddenly and without warning struck the rear of her vehicle."
"As a result of the collision, plaintiff sustained severe property damages, as well as severe and permanent injuries," the suit states.
In her suit, Patterson alleges Cooper caused the collision by negligently failing to keep a proper lookout, control her speed and apply her brakes in a timely manner.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Beaumont attorney James Payne of the Provost Umphrey Law Firm represents the plaintiff.
Humble attorney Kimberly Spurlock represents the defendant.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is presiding over the case.
