Mom sues daycare for traumatizing child

On behalf of her minor child, Meltasha Moore has filed suit against Carolyn Quibideaux, owner of Safari Kids, for allegedly leaving the minor unattended in a van.

The suit was filed May 24 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Aug. 31, 2010, a daycare employee left the minor unattended in a van without air conditioning for a half hour.

The suit alleges that once the minor found her way out the van and back into the defendant's facility, "defendant's staff systematically attempted to cover up the incident in a effort to avoid potential consequences.

Moore alleges her that her daughter now suffers from nightmares where she's locked in a confine space.

The suit faults the defendant with negligent entrustment.

On top of exemplary damages, the plaintiff is suing for her daughter's mental anguish the extra costs now needed for her school care.

Beaumont attorney Ryan Gertz represents the plaintiff.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
