Woman claims sexual harassment, discrimination at industrial workplace

GALVESTON - Jo Ann LeTulle is suing Zachry Industrial Inc. alleging the company dismissed her for reporting discrimination.

According to a lawsuit filed Sept. 8 in federal court for the Southern District of Texas-Galveston Division, Zachry engaged in policies and practices which willfully, intentionally and unlawfully discriminated and retaliated against the plaintiff on the basis of her sex and race.

LeTulle lost her job as safety compliance supervisor, a position she held for nearly five years, on May 14, 2010.

She alleges she was subjected to vile remarks, improper touches and preferential treatment toward male and non-Hispanic employees. LeTulle states she complained to the San Antonio corporate headquarters, but her supervisor retaliated against her after he learned about the reports, the original petition says.

The suit asserts that the bad work environment interfered with LeTulle's well-being and caused her severe emotional distress.

LeTulle ultimately blames the defendant for failing to protect her from further discrimination and harassment, failing to penalize those who supposedly discriminated against and harassed her and failing to take steps to eliminate an oppressive and offensive atmosphere from the workplace.

Consequently, the plaintiff seeks unspecified monetary damages and a jury trial.

She is represented by The Law Offices of Jerry D. McLaughlin and The Law Offices of Philip R. Russ.

U.S. District Judge Kenneth M. Hoyt is presiding over the case.
