Worker sues after metal clamp falls on his face

A man has filed suit against his employer, alleging he sustained injuries when a metal clamp fell on his face.

Gerald Greer claims he was working at defendant Chemtrade Refinery Services's facility on Jan. 26, 2010, when the metal clamp fell on his face.

Because of the incident, Greer sustained physical pain and mental anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed Sept. 9 in Jefferson County District Court. In addition, he lost his earnings and his earning capacity, experienced physical impairment and lost household services, the suit states.

In addition to Chemtrade Refinery, Greer names contractors Newtron and Betco Scaffold Erection Company as defendants.

The defendants negligently failed to correct the dangerous condition and failed to warn Greer of it, the complaint says.

In his complaint, Greer is seeking damages within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

He will be represented by Curtis J. Leister of Reaud, Morgan and Quinn in Beaumont.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
