Nelson Mullins Expands in Texas, Opens New Office Location

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, a full-service national law firm with offices from coast to coast, announces today the opening of an office in Houston, Texas with the addition of 10 litigation and corporate attorneys. The Houston office expands the firm’s presence in Texas from its existing Dallas office.

The new office is located in Suite 2100 of Heritage Plaza at 1111 Bagby Street.

"We welcome this seasoned group of attorneys," said Nelson Mullins managing partner Jim Lehman. "With corporate, tax, employment, and litigation experience, our new Houston office is a full-service location from day one. We are also pleased to add depth to some of our national practices, such as healthcare, private equity, energy, and real estate. We expect additional attorneys to join the office in the next few weeks."

Joining the Nelson Mullins team later this month will be Craig Dillard, a litigator from Foley & Lardner, who will serve as the office managing partner in Houston. Dillard’s practice covers the commercial litigation sector, including employment law, IP matters, product liability claims, and construction litigation. He has carved out a particular focus in the oil and gas industry, serving as his previous firm’s Houston office litigation chair and head of its oil and gas team.

Initially joining Dillard in the new Houston office as partners will be:

Kasi Chadwick, Litigation – a litigator with experience in state and federal courts, Chadwick joins from Hicks Thomas, a Houston litigation firm. Named to the Ones to Watch list in 2024 by Best Lawyers, her background includes employment law, intellectual property, and complex commercial litigation matters.

Nima Farzaneh, Tax – with a focus on domestic and international tax matters, Farzaneh joins from Platt Richmond. His experience includes advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, executive compensation, and employee benefit matters. He also has a background in assisting clients in investing in Opportunity Zones, private equity funds, real estate funds, and hedge funds.

J. Patrick LaRue, Corporate – a transactional attorney joining from Frost Brown Todd, LaRue has more than 20 years’ experience working in various industries, including real estate, energy, private equity, healthcare, and telecommunications. He also works in the venture capital arena, serving as outside general counsel to several energy companies.

Mitch Moore, Corporate – joining Nelson Mullins on April 3, Moore has a diverse practice in the corporate space. Moore joins from King & Spalding. His experience includes mergers and acquisitions, commercial real estate and general corporate transactional work as well as joint ventures, capitalization, financing, and project development within the healthcare, energy, technology, financial services, and real estate sectors.

Mike Rahmn, Litigation – a skillful litigator, Rahmn guides companies and executives through complex business and employment disputes. His practice focuses on commercial litigation, trade secret, construction and product liability matters. He represents clients in the oil and gas, manufacturing, healthcare, construction, and transportation industries. Rahmn joins from Foley & Lardner LLP.

Jason Sharp, Litigation – moving from Foley & Lardner, Sharp is a commercial litigator with a focus on employment law, including trade secrets, non-compete issues and breach of contract matters. An experienced appellate attorney, he also has a background in product liability and insurance litigation.

Darren Skyles, Corporate – with a robust practice across the healthcare industry, Skyles handles transactions and compliance issues for his clients while also serving as outside general counsel for many entities. Previously the Vice President for Legal Affairs at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, he has experience working with clients on value-based care models. Joining from Frost Brown Todd, Skyles also brings experience counseling on AI issues.

Audra White, Corporate – with a focus on a variety of investment funds, including venture capital, private equity, real estate, and hedge funds, White joins from Platt Richmond. Her experience includes working as Operations Director at a New York-based hedge fund where she dealt with fund raising as well as compliance and regulatory issues.

Joining as of counsel from Platt Richmond is Brittany Cox, who will be relocating from Dallas. Cox focuses her practice on representing private equity clients, both in fund formation and general representation. Also joining in the Houston office is Sol Wisenberg, a partner in the firm’s White Collar Defense and Government Investigations practice, who will continue to maintain a presence in the firm's Washington, D.C. office as well.
