In a lawsuit filed on April 12, 2024, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas (Case ID: 2024-23499), plaintiff John F. Comeaux Jr. is suing Southeast Texas Medical Ventures LLC, doing business as Townsen Memorial Surgery Center - Med Center and Adrian Sepulveda, L-CSA for alleged medical negligence. The case seeks monetary relief between $250,000 and $1,000,000 for personal injuries and damages.

On July 20, 2022, Mr. Comeaux underwent back surgery at Townsen to treat lower back pain. The procedure was performed by Stephen Esses, M.D., assisted by Adrian Sepulveda. During the operation, Mr. Comeaux suffered a serious burn on his left thigh from electrical currents that were supposed to have been dispersed by a bovie pad placed underneath his thigh.

The plaintiff alleges that the staff did not take necessary preoperative and intraoperative precautions to avoid an electrosurgical injury. As a result of this negligence, Mr. Comeaux has experienced significant pain and suffering, nerve pain, permanent disfigurement, lost wages and has incurred medical expenses for treatment made necessary by the electrosurgical burn.

Mr. Comeaux is seeking judgment against both defendants for their alleged negligence leading to his injuries and subsequent damages. He is requesting monetary relief between $250,000 and $1,000,000 plus economic damages under Chapter 74 of the Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code and Texas Common Law.
