Zackory Himes sues Shintech Incorporated for severe chemical burns due to alleged negligence

In a recent lawsuit filed in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, under the case ID 2024-24558 on April 17, 2024, plaintiff Zackory Himes is suing defendant Shintech Incorporated. The suit revolves around an incident where Himes suffered severe chemical burns due to alleged negligence and gross negligence on part of Shintech Incorporated.

Himes, a resident of Texas, was employed by Excel and working at Shintech's plant in Houston when the incident occurred on August 12, 2022. According to the court filing, Himes was instructed by a Shintech operator to drive a crane with an acid pump to blow off water from a pump using nitrogen. During this process, he was sprayed with 98% pure sulfuric acid resulting in severe burns.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief in excess of $1 million for damages incurred due to the incident. The discovery process has just commenced and Himes reserves his right to supplement the claim amount in accordance with the Texas Rules of Civil Procedure.
