In a case filed on April 19, 2024, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas (case ID: 2024-2521), plaintiff Gilbert Manzanalez is suing Vision Restaurant Management, LLC, also known as Chicken Express. The lawsuit revolves around an incident that occurred on August 4, 2023, where Manzanalez allegedly consumed bleach from a tea dispenser at the restaurant and subsequently fell ill.

The plaintiff, Gilbert Manzanalez, is represented by Christopher Matthews. According to the court filing, Manzanalez visited Chicken Express shortly before closing time and purchased a drink. After consuming tea from a dispenser, he became extremely ill. It was later discovered that bleach was present in the tea dispenser due to an employee's cleaning activities in preparation for closing time. Following this incident, Manzanalez had to be treated at an Emergency Room for poisoning.

Manzanalez seeks monetary relief aggregating $250,000 or less excluding interest, statutory or punitive damages and penalties, and attorney's fees and costs. He alleges that Vision Restaurant Management negligently conducted food service operations; failed to maintain safe premises; failed to inspect areas where dangerous conditions existed; failed to correct these conditions; failed to properly maintain food service areas; failed to provide warnings; and failed to exercise due care.
