In a case filed in the Harris County Civil Court at Law No. 1, Allstate Indemnity Company, A/S/O Azedine Chettah (Plaintiff) is suing LG Electronics U.S.A., Inc. (Defendant). The lawsuit, with case ID 17768"8 and dated April 16, 2024, alleges that a fire caused by an LG microwave resulted in extensive damage to the insured property of Azedine Chettah.

The Plaintiff's lawyers argue that the Defendant was engaged in designing, manufacturing, marketing, selling and distributing microwaves in Texas. On April 28, 2022, the Plaintiff's insured property located at 6000 Reims Rd. #3502, Houston suffered extensive fire damage due to an LG brand microwave without a detectable model or serial number.

The Plaintiff claims that the microwave was defective when it left the Defendant’s control and before it was installed on the premises. The incident resulted in damages far exceeding the minimum jurisdictional limits of this Court. The cost of damages includes but is not limited to damage to Plaintiff's insured’s property.

The Plaintiff seeks maximum damages not to exceed $60,000 inclusive of pre-judgment and judgment interest and court costs. They assert that the Defendant breached its duty to design, manufacture and distribute a safe product.
